Benefits of Engineered Hardwood Flooring
Engineered hardwood is a fantastic alternative to solid hardwood because of its durability, affordability and versatility. This popular flooring material is a favourite among homeowners looking for the warmth of real wood at budget-friendly prices. If you haven’t considered engineered hardwood flooring for your home or office before, here are a few reasons why you should.
It Looks Like Real Wood – One of the most important advantages of engineered hardwood is that it mimics real wood. The top layer of an engineered hardwood plank is real wood, thus giving the look and warmth of solid hardwood.
It’s More Stable Than Real Wood – Although not completely solid hardwood, its clever construction and design make it more stable than its real wood counterpart. It doesn’t expand or contract due to temperature or moisture changes. It’s also safe to install in environments where solid hardwood would be at risk of damage; for example, in basements and laundry rooms.
It Is Highly Durable – Engineered hardwood is made by fusing multiple layers of plywood. This layered construction makes it a highly durable flooring material ideal for high-traffic areas.
It Can Be Refinished – If you choose thick planks, you can easily get your engineered hardwood floor refinished to change its look. This allows some flexibility in terms of how it fits into the room’s design.

My brother-in-law bought hardwood from Amazon before. He recommended me to see Bill. I am very happy and satisfied with his service. Nice store! Strongly recommend!
I had a pleasant experience doing business with Amazon. They gave me a great price on 750 sqft of engineered hardwood. Installation was done right and on time. And the best part was they covered their shoes when walking around my condo and cleaned up properly after completing the job. That is hard to see in this or any type of renovation job.
Walked in a few minutes before they were closing and Cody was still very welcoming and helpful. The great attitude and service actually made me want to buy our flooring from them which we did! Higy recommend this place!

Engineered hardwood is more stable than laminate. Since its top layer is made of real wood (unlike laminate, which has a photographic layer), engineered hardwood gives an authentic wood look to the floor. Plus, the grain variation and knots of real wood are visible, giving engineered hardwood an edge over laminate flooring.
Engineered hardwood flooring is available in various thicknesses, ranging from 15 to 21 mm. The best thickness depends on many factors including the level of room traffic, whether it's been installed over under-floor heating, and the construction and condition of the subfloor. For example, installing engineered hardwood in a high-traffic living room requires a thicker board. If you’re installing it over under-floor heating, a thinner plank (15 mm) will allow heat to be transferred faster than a thick plank. And if the subfloor is uneven, a thicker board (at least 18 mm) is recommended to provide adequate stability.
Engineered hardwood planks generally have three or more layers. The top one is composed of real wood, whereas the core layers are made of plywood or high-density fibreboard.
Engineered hardwood floors are easy to clean. For regular cleaning, use a soft-bristled broom or microfibre mop to eliminate dirt and dust. When it requires more attention, clean it with a mop dipped into a solution of water and chemical-free floor cleaner. (This flooring is resistant to moisture.) Make sure you don't clean with towels or mops that are completely drenched as excess water can seep through cracks, causing damage.
Typically, engineered hardwood floors take one to three days to install.
